2022-05 For Corporate NZE Strat consulation_Final
Jan – Apr 2022
In collaboration with Climate Action Wagga (CAW), Wagga Fridays for Future and others in the community, CROW posted a petition on change.org in January –
Call on Wagga Council to ambitiously support community net zero emissions
Online and print signatures were then submitted to Council in March. In a motion in April, Councillors unanimously supported the adoption of the measures called for in the petition.
As part of the Communities Plus program, New South Wales Land and Housing Corporation is calling for Expressions of Interest from registered Community Housing Providers for the
renewal of the Tolland social housing estate in Wagga Wagga. LAHC is working with the
Aboriginal Housing Office on this exciting initiative.
During the month CROW put together a submission to the NSW Minister responsible (Melinda
Povey) with our suggestions for the features that such a renewal project should include.
Our suggestions covered new and renovated housing, energy provision and community spaces.

CROW made a submission to the NSW Parliament’s inquiry “Sustainability of energy supply and resources in NSW”. The inquiry was considering the capacity and economic opportunities of renewable energy, trends in energy supply and effects on regional communities (such as coal communities).

CROW made a submission to the inaugural Integrated System Plan (ISP) – the plan for the transition of the electricity (and gas) system over the next 20 years – of the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). CROW made a number of points to accelerate the transition towards 100% renewables, including referring to credible reports that achieving net zero emissions by 2050 can reduce costs for consumers.
